Coolest Baby Shower Game Ideas For Fresh And Unique Twists On Classic Crowd Pleasers

Copyright 2006 Qing Gu

Looking for some unique baby shower game ideas?

Before making any game decision which you are going to spend hours of preparation before the baby shower, I'll want to tell you the most popular types of baby shower games and other details that will make your Shower planning better.

The first type, games for creating memories.

If you're good at creating scrapbook items, why not make some cute items for the parents-to-be to take home as reminders of this wonderful day?

As I know, most of these projects can be turned into great group activities.

Still have no clue?

For example, have you ever wondered what to do with over 100 guests at a baby shower? Oops, it's extremely difficult to coordinate some of the traditional baby shower games, so why not make a placemat for each guest and let them doodle?

Crosswords, word scrambles, matching games?they can all be added. Just cut out some of your favorite printable baby shower games and paste them to both sides of a piece of paper.

Then decorate with baby pictures and such, then take it to your local copy store, like Kinkos, and have them print the page on pastel colored paper. At the Shower, guests can fill in the puzzles, or just doodle. Have a small prize for the first person who has both sides filled out correctly.

Ok, the next one would be the coed Shower games.

Let's face it: More and more baby showers are including new Dads and couples, so why do you think Dads want to be left out of the fun?

You will say, I need those baby shower game ideas talk a lot about the parents-to-be, not just the mom-to-be.

No problem.

When you decide to celebrate a new life with the New Dad together, here is a few hints:

- Get the male guests to buy-in before hand, and agree to play games

- Invite more than 3 guys - don't let the dad-to-be stay alone at the baby shower.

- Don't play those ooh-and-aah types of girls' games - they are not suitable for men, like measure Mom's tummy or talk about girl-stuff like birth stories or labor.

- Make your game ideas competitive and fun to get the guys out their seats and love to play, like the famous Guys and Dolls and Baby Jeopardy (of course, then the men will most likely say hat's so easy, any man can do it better? and let them find out they can't!)

You can even get guys involving into the scrapbook making during your coed baby shower. The outcome is usually great.

And how about having activities with no winners?

Yes, I mean it and people love it too!

Do you know baby shower games don't always need to have a winner? Sometimes just an activity provides all the fun you need, like baby story which is all about gathering the baby essentials.

You will use words that are brand names or names of products that are presented to the parents-to-be as the story is read. Just put in the Mom-to-be's name - and Dad's too, if he's at the baby shower party. The words in BOLD are brand names or names of products to be presented as the words are read. You can even get creative and add new products into the story.

The last and my most favorite one, the pencil and paper game.

Pencil and paper based baby shower game ideas are always a great addition to any Shower because they require the least materials and usually the shortest prep time. A very popular choice is the Baby Safety Bingo.

You can create a baby shower bingo game card with answers in each square ? which means your guests will want to pay attention because there's going to be a quiz!

Tips: It also means you will need to create a quiz ahead of time. As you read quiz questions aloud, each guest marks the right answer box, or uses a Hershey's Kiss to cover the appropriate square on their bingo card to match five in a row, up, down, or diagonal. (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's Baby Safety Checklist can be found at: www.cpsc.gov)

Quiz questions should include things like One of these will prevent children from falling down stairs and If burst or un-inflated, these can be a choking hazard to young children - where the answers in the Bingo square are aby gate and alloons.

Enjoy your baby shower planning!

Ordinary Men Having Love Lives Like The Movie Stars

Are you in a relationship, and wonder what your future holds? Well you are not alone. The feelings you are having are not unique. Even famous stars question their love lives. Whether you are madly in love, or just plain pooped from your relationship woes, take a look at the movie stars for your answers. Look at famous celebrity couples or bachelors to see where your relationship fits in. Imagine yourself as a romantic Brad Pitt or bad boy Charlie Sheen romancing the hottie of your dreams. If not Brad or Charlie, then which movie star?s life are you living right now?

Caught a Case of the Katie Holmes/ Tom Cruise Infectious Infatuation

You can?t wait to see her and you want this feeling to last forever. The relationship is still fairly new but you know in your heart that she is the one. You want to spend all your free time with her and you find yourself reprioritizing your schedule to fit her into your life. You feel incredible passion, but also at times feel anxious about losing her. Sometimes you question her faithfulness and commitment to you, even though she seems blissfully happy too. You haven?t yet felt the urge to engage in any sofa stompin activities expressing your undying love for her, but the idea doesn?t seem too far outside of your realm of thinking.

Advice for Infectious Infatuation: Hold off on engagement ring purchases and marriage proposals for now. Take a break from sonogram shopping and baby planning. Instead just stay on course and keep enjoying her and see where this romance leads. Remember infatuation can last 6 months to 2 years. So make sure it is love before you make any life long commitments

Searching for a Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey Maturity Makeover

You have been together for several years. It seems like overnight the things you used to love about her are getting on your nerves. You fight about little things, big things, any things. Your lovemaking sessions aren?t as frequent or as passionate as they used to be. She doesn?t seem to pay as much attention to your needs as she used to. It?s over and you are calling it quits.

Advice for Maturity Makeover It?s 98 degrees and rising and time to cool off. Breakups are never easy. The decision to break up has been made so there is no point contacting her during a weak moment and trying to work things out. Instead, get yourself involved in healthy activities. Exercise, visit with family and friends that care about you. Do something to make you feel good about yourself (how about investing in some tanning lotion, just a suggestion). Just because you are a man doesn?t mean you can?t have feelings of hurt and dismay. Accept those feelings and just take one day at a time.

Just Jammin in the Jada Pickett Smith/ Will Smith Jackpot

You and your woman are together, committed forever. Sure you have your ups and downs, but you work through your problems and respect each other totally. You will do whatever it takes to keep your relationship strong and healthy. Your family is the most important thing in your life. Your wife/girlfriend enhances you. She never brings you down. Because you have such a solid foundation at home, you have found much success in your life as you can freely focus on your career, family and interests. You see yourself growing old with your wife, and putting your children and family first above all else.

Advice to Just Jammin Jackpot: This Prince needs no advice.

Walk Away Whitney Houston/ Bobby Brown LowDown

Your relationship is filled with tremendous highs and unbelievable lows. You find yourself either fighting constantly or engaged in phenomenal make-up sex with her. Although tumultuous, you are committed to making your relationship work. You hope things will get better because you still truly love her. Sometimes you think that you are soul mates and you were destined to be together. Other times you wish she had never entered your life. You blame her for your problems. You just want some peace.

Advice to Walk Away Lowdown: Stop singing ?Its my prerogative? and do something to change your life. You need to start making some drastic changes, and focus on improving yourself. Only you are responsible for bringing happiness in your life, not her. So get busy. And if you have any child support payments, traffic violations, etc., just pay them already.

Dawdling in Some Puff Daddy, P Diddy or Just Some Diddy

You are just out there having fun. You are into the party scene, dating, enjoying and loving women. You have talent, cool moves, and a major fashion sense. You are just too cool. You are into the ?love em and leave em? philosophy. Although in your case you have one and only one name, it is true that women have called you quite a few names in your life that you wouldn?t care to repeat.

Advice for Dawdling: You?re still young, so enjoy life, but try not to hurt anyone along the way. Lose the white suit. It has yet to bring out your angelic side.

So how did you do? Whether you?re the Prince or P Diddy, we could all use some relationship advice at different times in our life.

Unique Baby Names for Girls

Brianne, once unique, is taking its place as a very popular baby girl’s name across cultural lines. Whether Brianne will establish itself as a classic baby name like Sarah or Emily over the decades or wear itself out over the next years, remains to be seen. Personally, I’d prefer people looking for unique baby names look at names a little more unique or go with something more traditional, but if you like Brianne, or any of its offshoots, may I offer some other suggestions:If you want to go with a feminized male name: Brianne is basically a girl’s version of the name Brian. I’m not sure how that factors into its popularity. But if you’re an expectant parents considering a boy’s name turned into a girl’s name, may I suggest some others. What about Jacklyn or Jacqueline, feminine of Jack? How about Alexandra, or any of its versions, feminie of Alexander. Then there’s Louisa, feminine of Louis, Pauline or Paulette instead of Paul. Claudine, Claudia, Claudette are more popular perhaps than Claude from which they’re dervived. Then there’s version of John like Jeannie and Jeannette. Lots to choose from. If you want to go with a name that ends in Ann:If it’s the “anne” part of Brianne that has you hooked into the name, consider you can add Ann or Anne or Anna or Ana onto almost any female name you want. How do you think they came up with Brianne? Check it out: Leann, Leanna, Leana. See what I mean? Use a hyphen if you want: Lou-Anne. Or don’t: Louanne. Use a Y or an I: Maryanne, Marianne. Or check out names that aren’t obvious add-ons, like Dianne or Christiane.

If you want to go with a name that starts with BR:Brianne is not the only name out there beginning with the Br sound, rest assured. So if it’s that sound that’s got you hooked, how about Brenda or Bridget? Go old Englishy with Bronwyn or Bryn. Knock the first part off of Sabrina for Brina. Consider liquid names like Brandy or Brooke. But please, no Brook-Lynns, that’s just trendy as anythingf you want a name whose first syllable is a cheese:Can't help you there. So, as you go about finding the perfect name for your child, please, consider all your non-Brianne options. If you settle on Brianne as the perfect name after much thought, then hey, go for it. She’ll be the best Brianne ever

Unique Baby Names

A person's name does indeed say something about them as an individual. Actually, what one's name says is what their parents' state of mind was at their birth! Or it can also reflect the state of the world, of our culture, our religion, our personal beliefs, when the child came into the world. Be thoughtful and considerate, however, when selecting your child's name. It is a really, really big and lasting legacy. This is the second installment of an ongoing series of offering up new, unusual or clever names for your new child. Throughout one's travels in life, I have come across on individual names that I thought were so unique and exciting that it seemed fitting to share them with you.If you are African-American, there is a wealth of beautiful, meaningful names from which to choose. If you'd like help selecting or searching out culturally significant names, go to your local library or Google online "names of African descent". A local or regional African American historical society can be of great help, also, as well as your church. Draw within your own ethnic and/or religious backgrounds to consider names that may be somewhat unusual but have lasting, significant and often historical importance. In naming my own daughters, I went on a somewhat 'safe' route. Our last name is of Eastern European descent, has three syllables, and ends with a vowel. We named our first daughter 'Julie' after her maternal grandmother. (I did go a bit on the wild side, though: her middle name is Kristine. I just loved the sound and spelling of the name.) Our youngest daughter is named Karen: we really loved the good, strong sound of the name, as well as how it looks in print. We did give her the middle name of "Bennett", since that is a family surname from our family tree. For us, at least, it was the best of both worlds: names that we really liked, that went well with a somewhat difficult last name, and names that held special meaning to us and our immediate families.

Some boys' names that you might want to consider include:1. Colton. Hugely popular in Texas, California, and most of the western states of the U.S. Often abbreviated as "Colt". Connotes an athletic, intelligent person, perhaps because of at least two current college quarterbacks with a similar name (including Colt Brennan) Other fairly new and popular 'Southern' names include Houston, Dallas, and Austin. If you're a Maryland native, I would hesitate to go with "Annapolis" or "Baltimore", however!2. Davies. A variation on the popular name "David", but a bit more formal and mysterious. Appears to be almost a surname being used as a first name.3. Thompson - best used if you have a short, one-syllable last name. A variation on the more common and popular "Thomas", but a bit more dignified. Again, appears to be a surname being used as a first name. A thoughtful choice for a Hunter S. Thompson fan as well. May his ashes continue to flow throughout space! Another take on the name 'Thomas' is used by mens' fashion designer Thom Brown, whose eponyous New York City shop bears his name.4. Wil - Not "Will", and not "William". An interesting short name, especially if you have a longer, multisyllabled last name. Has a Scandanavian sound to it as well. May be difficult as the child grows up to constantly have spelled correctly, but a jazzy, unusual name nonetheless.5. Geoffrey - The English (and correct) spelling of the name Jeffrey. A good-sounding name, which can be abbreviated to "Geoff". Again, may require correction in spelling as the child grows, but English and literature teachers will love it! (Shades of the Canterbury Tales!)6. Lorenzo - The true Italianate spelling of the name "Lawrence". Quite exotic, a name with more than a hint of character behind it. Quite old-fashioned, and certaintly not many other guys will be named Lorenzo!7. Brien - An updated European spelling of the more commonly known name "Brian", with French connotation.8. Cornelius - A name of Irish/Anglo heritage. A strong name full of character (and your son will certainly have plenty of that as he 'grows into' the name. Unusual, making somewhat of a 'comeback' - look for a neat nickname as well!9. Padraig - the 'official' spelling of the Celtic name Patrick. Top pro golfer Padraig Harrington is giving the name a lot of press lately. You can always use "Pat" or "Paddy" as your child's nickname, if you choose.10. Harrison - name your child after an American president! Jeffrey Sebelia, the winner of last season's "Project Runway", named his son Harrison Detroit. There are some other pretty cool and interesting names derived from American presidents: Clinton (Clint), Reagan, William, Jackson, Henry, Abraham, Ford (used as a first name), and of course, there will always be George! The name 'Lincoln' is also quite a character-driven name, and can be shortened to 'Linc', which is a pretty cool nickname for a young man (unless you fear he'll be confused with Philadelphia's sports arena, the Lincoln Financial Arena, commonly referred to as "The Linc".11. Theo and Thad - Thhhat's right, the "Th" names are very popular right now. We're not necessarily suggesting Theodore or Thaddeus, but the shortened version of these names as the first name itself. ("Thad" would be pronounced as "Tad" - and "Theo" has worked quite well, thank you, for the Red Sox' Theo Epstein.)12. Keaghan - an unusual name, one in which a surname is used as a given name. This works best with short, one syllable last names, giving some emphasis on maybe more 'common' last names like Jones, Smith, Bark, Ash, Brown, etc.13. Wylie - Nope, you're not naming your child after Wil E. Coyote, again this is a variation of a surname used as a first name. Again, this works well with one or two syllable last names, but it is certain, in either event, to be a one of a kind name for your child.14. Chase - Popularized by MLB pitcher Chase Utley. There are actually two students in my daugher's high school who are named Chase. Works well with one or two syllable last names. Certainly adds a bit of intrigue for a first name, although frankly it's not one that I'm particularly enamoured with. I envision two or three little "Chase's" entering first grade within the next five years!15. Mickey - Yes, Mickey, not Michael, not Mikey, not Mouse. It has sort of a tough-guy image for a name; one thinks of writer Mickey Spillane or baseball great Mickey Mantle. Some may consider it to be a bit of a 'lowbrow' name, but it certainly worked well enough for Mantle and Spillane, and it's doubtful you'll have a class full of kindergarten students answering to Mickey.Other names I might suggest for your new son include Macklin (of Irish or Scotch derivation, I believe), McKinstrie (used as a last name most often, but a very cool first name!), Tucker, Leif (a beautiful Scandinavian name), Sweeney, Hector, Sebastian, Sanders, Creighton, and Len (not Leonard, but its abbreviation used as a first name). Lem is another interesting 'nickname' that can be used from the given name of Lemuel as well. Stay away from Homer! While it has wonderful references in both literature and Greek culture, it still rings of "Homer Simpson". Avoid it if you can.

Unique Baby Girl Names

It seems these days Madison is one of the most popular allegedly unique baby girls names in the U.S. I’m not sure why the capital of Wisconsin has become such a source of girl’s name unique-ness all of sudden, but there it is. Or maybe people naming their baby girls are just watching the movie Splash a lot. (Remember, Tom Hanks named Darryl Hannah the Mermaid Madison?) Well, no offense to all the new baby Madisons out there, trendy and unique are mutually exclusive. So, future parents looking for a unique baby girl name, I ask you to look deeper into the dictionary of baby names and don’t resign your baby girl to a life of her teachers looking at her name on a class list and saying “Oh, man, another Madison…” Give her and the world something new, or at least, different. Here are some suggestions truly unique baby girl names:If you want to go with a state capital:Instead of Madison, capital of Wisconsin, how about Augusta, the capital of Maine (also a city in Georgia among other places). It’s pretty, it’s strong, it connotes greatness. Same goes for Olympia, Washington. Go for the gold, Olympia. Or how bout Helena (the capital of Montana) which is elegant, can be shortened to Lena (though presumably not to Hel) and whether you want the Greek connection, there it is again, plus there’s the good-old western US connection, or the first name of Tim Burton’s love interest connection. It’s all there. Just please, no Cheyennes (capital of Wyoming). It’s almost as overused as Madison. If you want to go with dead president’s last name:Instead of Madison, as in James Madison, president from 1809-17, for whom all the other Madison places in America were named, try some other options. It may be difficult with a girl. But Reagan’s a perfectly good first name. Or Taylor, for Zachary Taylor. Taylor’s sort of on the overused list, but not quite as much as Madison. And I think it’s better for a girl than a boy. Or go with Madison’s wife’s first name: Dolly. Okay, actually, that name isn’t so hot. But be a little inventive, you can come up with Rose for Roosevelt.

If you want to go with a love interest from a Tom Hanks movie: Tom Hanks has loved many women in many films. And also at least one man. Who can forget Jenny from Forest Gump yelling “Run, Forrest Run!”. Or maybe you’d prefer a character who makes it through the whole movie. How about Meg Ryan’s characters - Kathleen in You’ve Got Mail or Annie in Sleepless in Seattle, or Angelica in Joe Vs. The Volcano. There’s Marilyn, his character’s wife’s name in Apollo 13. Or Jan in the Green Mile. Or even go with his real-life wife’s name: Rita.If you want to go with a famous street: New York’s Madison Avenue is America’s advertising capital. But there are other ways to go. How about Abbey, for Abbey Road, famed Beatles album locale? Go natural with Ocean, as in Miami’s Ocean Drive. (I don’t suggest Rodeo). Do a take off from the alphabet streets of Washington DC: L can be Elle, K can be Kay, D can be Dee. Lane itself is a sort of nice name. If you want to go with an M-A name: There are many names that begin with MA. We don’t all have to use the same one. Madeleine and Madelyn, with all their various spellings, are very close to Madison. There’s also the Mary category which goes form your basic Mary and Maria. You’ve got your Mary hyphens: MaryBeth, Mary-Kate, Mary-Anything. And the Maryanns: Marian, Mary-Ann, Marion, Marianna. There's Marisol, and Maribelle. Then there’s Irish names like Maura, Maureen, Maeve. Or how about Margaret, Margarita, or Marguerite. And don't forget the nicknames can come from these names: May, Maggie, M.J.. Mari. There are plenty of MA names. If after thorough consideration of all your non-Madison options, you still believe Madison is the best name for your baby, good luck to you, and may she be the happiest, healthiest Madison ever!

Top Baby Girl Names - Pick a Name She'll Love Her Whole Life!

Every year the list of top baby girl names is announced, and every year the expectant parents look at the names in the hopes of finding a good one for their sweet little girl. The most popular names are popular for good reasons, so it makes sense to make your child something that comes from one of those lists. Before you do, though, keep in mind a few key points that will help you choose the right one!Pay attention to how the first name sounds along with the middle name. If you have two words that are very different, or very hard to say together, you might want to consider something else. The easier a name trips from the tongue, the more pleasing it will be to your child when they are old enough to have a say in such matters. Then, take into account the way the name sounds with the surname. Does it still flow easily? The first and middle names should compliment the surname.Another point to consider is the way the initials will look. You want to provide your child with initials that will not wind up being ridiculed when they start school! Children tend to make fun of everything at one time or another, so don't make your child an easy target. Write down the initials of your child's name and make certain they don't spell something odd.Have a good reason for your choice! At some point your daughter will ask you why you chose that particular name for her, and having a good answer will make you both happy. Think long and hard about the meanings of names, and make certain that your choice reflects something about your child or your family that you will cherish forever. A name is something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives! If they have a name with a good story behind it, they will be even happier to tell people what it is and what it means.

But your child might not want to constantly explain the pronunciation of her name. So if you are tempted to change the very popular baby girls names to something a little more unique by changing a vowel or switching up consonants, consider that very carefully. Some words look and sound great when they are slightly modified, but others sound very strange. When you change the letters in a name, write them down for other people and ask them to say them out loud to you. If they pronounce the name correctly, you know you're on the right track. The top baby girl names list is filled with ideas for naming your little one. Make sure the name is something that matters to you and sounds great to everyone else. The name you choose for your child will be one of the first decisions you make for their life, so make sure your choice is a good one!

There are names such as Tobias and Lena in Austria; Connor and Paige in Canada; Pedro and Juana in Chile; Matej and Katerina in the Czech Republic; Rasmus and Freja in Denmark; Harry and Charlotte in Wales and England; Aleksi and Iida in Finland; Quentin and Oceane in France; Luca and Sophie in Germany; Bjarni and Helga in Iceland; Shota and Riko in Japan; Thijs and Lotte in the Netherlands; and Marek and Agnieszka in Poland.

In Ireland, baby names are usually coined by combining both Irish and foreign names. This practice reflects the rich cultural diversity that can be found in the country. In 2004, popular baby names for boys were Sean, Jack, Conor, Adam, James, Daniel, Cian, Luke, Michael, Aaron, Dylan, David, Ryan, Eoin, Darragh, Jamie, Bem, Oisin and Shane. Interesting Baby Boy Names and Baby Girl Names

Not long ago, one of the top trends for baby names here in the States was to give Irish names, both for boys and girls. Irish names were a big development in the US,particularly for boys. It's only been since the 90s that names such as Aidan and Declan have been common amongst American children. One of the reasons might be that the name Sean became mainstream in the 1980's. Parents are now reaching even farther to find Irish names that are unique in the United States. But beyond Irish influence, American names come from a whole slew of cultural sources. Among these are: English, Egyptian, Czechoslovakian, Gaelic, French, Italian, and Hebrew. America has always been a melting pot of people of different ethnic backgrounds. As such a person's name here doesn't necessarily tie to a particular ethnicity; Indians give their children English names, Italian children are given Irish names like "Sean". And of course popular names are strongly influenced by the popular media- by celebrities and businessmen. Dylan rose as a popular name in the 70s, almost assuredly because of the influence of Bob Dylan the decade before. Here are a few popular or emerging baby names, their meaning or definition, and their ethnic origin:

Perhaps there's some inspiration you can draw from some famous historical figures for this. For baby boys, think Henry David Thoreau. In this case, Henry David would be all that's needed to make the name recognizable. There's also Aldo Leopold, the author of the ecological classic, A Sand County Almanac. Aldo was an American ecologistand is considered a pioneer in environmental ethics and wilderness preservation. Another name that comes to mind is David Brower, an environmentalist activist who founded Friends of the Earth, the League of Conservation Voters, and other environmental organizations. For baby girls, one of the most famous environmentalists of all time was Rachel Carson. An American biologist, conservationist, and nature writer, Carson is helped increase environmental awareness around the world with her book, Silent Spring. The work spurred the banning of the pesticide DDT in the United States and helped spark the modern environmental movement. Also Carson makes a beautiful middle name. Another idea is Jane Goodall, a famous primatologist. Discover Secrets of Finding Unique Baby Girl Names, and Give Your Precious Princess a Golden Gift!

When it comes to choosing a name for a new little miss, people often search for unique baby girl names as a source of inspiration for their final name choice. Uncommon baby names can be derived from many sources. One such source of baby girl names is through identification of names from other cultures or countries. Another idea for developing a unique or unusual name is to incorporate old, cherished and traditional family names and give them new twists with different or unusual spellings. Still other baby girl names are obtained by going to a dictionary and selecting a word that appeals to the parents.Unique baby names are often sought by parents who are unwilling to have their daughter become another Jane, Linda or Mary. They want her to have a name that is special and different. However, it is often difficult to come up with a truly unique name, as so many names have been used already, and when an unusual name is introduced it is almost always immediately used by others. Some examples of unusual and unique baby girl names include Tuli, Shakira, Enya, Lyric and Apple. These are all names that have been associated with celebrities and entertainers, and some of them also have roots in other cultures and countries. Other names that have been used by movie stars or created for television characters which have gained recent popularity include Phazze, Sheena, Scout, Demps, Taylor, Addison, Sienna and Brooke. One way to be assured of a unique baby girl name is by creating a name and spelling it the way you wish. An example of some common names that take on a unique spin when spelled in new ways are "Emily", spelled as Emilee or Emmelie, "Mary" spelled Mari, Meri or Mairry, "Hannah" spelled Hana, and "Linda" spelled Lynnda.

Spelling is one true way to create a very unique name. However, keep in mind that a problem you may encounter is that your child may have trouble getting others to spell her name correctly, or to have it correctly pronounced. This can sometimes be distressing for some children. You want to feel free to be unique and creative when naming your daughter, but think about how it may affect your child throughout her life.Parents often look to nature for some unusual naming inspiration, and the results are seen in unique baby girl names like Willow, Melon, Rainbow, Sunset and Dewdrop. These are names that have all been given to baby girls over the years. There are a number of ways for finding unique baby girl names, the key really is being open to non-traditional sources to find inspiration and possibilities. And while it may take some time and patience to achieve what you desire, the results of your efforts will surely prove worth it when you find that one perfect name for your darling baby girl.

Baby Girl Names

One of the most famous lines is "what's in a name," and yet one of the most important and daunting of tasks for would be parents is that of finding a perfect name for their baby. A few centuries ago, there was no problem: most boys were named after their grandfather and girls after their grandmother. Now it is more difficult, with so many choices and options. Take a breather and think; do I want to choose a traditional name for my girl? Should it be modern or medieval? How about a family name? Or, how about selecting a name that is soft, pretty, and poetic? Make a list and go through it with your partner, family member, and friends. Be innovative--have a "name party" where every guest brings two suggestions. Before you decide on a particular name think about how will it sound. Will it suit the genes that will determine how your little girl will look? Imagine calling a dusky beauty Blanche. Be sure the name when shortened to initials does not become something embarrassing, like "ASS" or "FAT."Read through poems, medieval literature, biblical stories, history and legend, as well as books that feature popular names through the ages. Think about names you associate with joy and happiness, ones that can bring a song to your lips.Name your daughter such that she and her name become one.

A strong willful daughter must have a strong name, and a delicate wisp a delicate flowery name. The name you bestow must last a lifetime so, the name must be an expression of who she is. Select a name that conveys joy, warmth, and comfort. If it is meaningful, it will add a sense of confidence to the child, giving her a sense of history, belonging, and roots. Choose a name that is easily pronounced and spelt.Weigh the pros and cons but ultimately listen to your heart or a little whisper that tells you to call her "??" most mothers will swear that it is the most appropriate name for her, that she was born to be named such.

A List of Some Very Unique Baby Girls Names that You Might like to Use for Your New Baby Coming Soon

Having a hard time trying to think of some really different baby girl names? I know this is a very hard decision trying to find that one perfect name for your new baby girl, especially with all the names to choose from. I have always though trying to name a girl was much harder than naming a boy. Do you want something original maybe like a name of a flower or maybe just a name that is very original and not many have this name? Well when I was first pregnant I made myself a list of baby girls names and boy names held onto it just in case I needed it. When I found out I was having twins after my first son I prayed that it would be a boy and girl, but gosh what was I gonna call them? This took me a long time to decide, because I wanted something a little different for my girls name. After months I finally decided on Makayla Rose, which I liked very much the way it was spelled, but also the way it sounded. I have that list still so I figured why not write about this maybe someone will want one of these names.

She’ll be the best Brianne ever By Abe

Throughout one's travels in life, I have come across on individual names that I thought were so unique and exciting that it seemed fitting to share them with you. If you are African-American, there is a wealth of beautiful, meaningful names from which to choose.

If you're a Maryland native, I would hesitate to go with "Annapolis" or "Baltimore", however! 2. Davies. A variation on the popular name "David", but a bit more formal and mysterious. Appears to be almost a surname being used as a first name. 3. Another take on the name 'Thomas' is used by mens' fashion designer Thom Brown, whose eponyous New York City shop bears his name. 4. Wil - Not "Will", and not "William". An interesting short name, especially if you have a longer, multisyllabled last name. Has a Scandanavian sound to it as well. May be difficult as the child grows up to constantly have spelled correctly, but a jazzy, unusual name nonetheless. 5. Geoffrey - The English (and correct) spelling of the name Jeffrey. A good-sounding name, which can be abbreviated to "Geoff". Again, may require correction in spelling as the child grows, but English and literature teachers will love it! (Shades of the Canterbury Tales!) 6. Lorenzo - The true Italianate spelling of the name "Lawrence". Quite exotic, a name with more than a hint of character behind it. Quite old-fashioned, and certaintly not many other guys will be named Lorenzo! 7. Brien - An updated European spelling of the more commonly known name "Brian", with French connotation. 8. Cornelius - A name of Irish/Anglo heritage. A strong name full of character (and your son will certainly have plenty of that as he 'grows into' the name. Unusual, making somewhat of a 'comeback' - look for a neat nickname as well! 9. Padraig - the 'official' spelling of the Celtic name Patrick. Top pro golfer Padraig Harrington is giving the name a lot of press lately. You can always use "Pat" or "Paddy" as your child's nickname, if you choose. 10. The name 'Lincoln' is also quite a character-driven name, and can be shortened to 'Linc', which is a pretty cool nickname for a young man (unless you fear he'll be confused with Philadelphia's sports arena, the Lincoln Financial Arena, commonly referred to as "The Linc". 11. Theo and Thad - Thhhat's right, the "Th" names are very popular right now. We're not necessarily suggesting Theodore or Thaddeus, but the shortened version of these names as the first name itself. ("Thad" would be pronounced as "Tad" - and "Theo" has worked quite well, thank you, for the Red Sox' Theo Epstein.) 12. Keaghan - an unusual name, one in which a surname is used as a given name. This works best with short, one syllable last names, giving some emphasis on maybe more 'common' last names like Jones, Smith, Bark, Ash, Brown, etc. 13. Wylie - Nope, you're not naming your child after Wil E. Coyote, again this is a variation of a surname used as a first name. Again, this works well with one or two syllable last names, but it is certain, in either event, to be a one of a kind name for your child. 14. Chase - Popularized by MLB pitcher Chase Utley. There are actually two students in my daugher's high school who are named Chase. Works well with one or two syllable last names. Certainly adds a bit of intrigue for a first name, although frankly it's not one that I'm particularly enamoured with. I envision two or three little "Chase's" entering first grade within the next five years! 15. Mickey - Yes, Mickey, not Michael, not Mikey, not Mouse. It has sort of a tough-guy image for a name; one thinks of writer Mickey Spillane or baseball great Mickey Mantle. Some may consider it to be a bit of a 'lowbrow' name, but it certainly worked well enough for Mantle and Spillane, and it's doubtful you'll have a class full of kindergarten students answering to Mickey. Other names I might suggest for your new son include Macklin (of Irish or Scotch derivation, I believe), McKinstrie (used as a last name most often, but a very cool first name!), Tucker, Leif (a beautiful Scandinavian name), Sweeney, Hector, Sebastian, Sanders, Creighton, and Len (not Leonard, but its abbreviation used as a first name). Lem is another interesting 'nickname' that can be used from the given name of Lemuel as well. Stay away from Homer! While it has wonderful references in both literature and Greek culture, it still rings of "Homer Simpson". Avoid it if you can. By ivylily

Before you do, though, keep in mind a few key points that will help you choose the right one! Pay attention to how the first name sounds along with the middle name. If you have two words that are very different, or very hard to say together, you might want to consider something else. The easier a name trips from the tongue, the more pleasing it will be to your child when they are old enough to have a say in such matters. Then, take into account the way the name sounds with the surname. Does it still flow easily? The first and middle names should compliment the surname. Another point to consider is the way the initials will look. You want to provide your child with initials that will not wind up being ridiculed when they start school! Children tend to make fun of everything at one time or another, so don't make your child an easy target. Write down the initials of your child's name and make certain they don't spell something odd.

Have a good reason for your choice! By Janet Kimbrell

Baby Boy Names CHUMA- wealthy; egyptian CHURCHILL- lives at the church hill; english CHVAL- flattery; czechoslovakian CIAN- ancient; gaelic CIARDUBHAN- little black one; gaelic CINGESWIELLA- lives at the king's spring; english Baby Girl Names CLAIRE- clear; french CLARA- bright; romanian CLARESTA- brilliant; english CLARICE- famous; french CLARICE- clear; italian Green Names? What if you want to give your boy or girl an environmentally-sound name?

Be sure the name when shortened to initials does not become something embarrassing, like "ASS" or "FAT." Read through poems, medieval literature, biblical stories, history and legend, as well as books that feature popular names through the ages.

Think about names you associate with joy and happiness, ones that can bring a song to your lips. Name your daughter such that she and her name become one. Choose a name that is easily pronounced and spelt. Weigh the pros and cons but ultimately listen to your heart or a little whisper that tells you to call her "??" most mothers will swear that it is the most appropriate name for her, that she was born to be named such.
