Top Baby Girl Names - Pick a Name She'll Love Her Whole Life!

Every year the list of top baby girl names is announced, and every year the expectant parents look at the names in the hopes of finding a good one for their sweet little girl. The most popular names are popular for good reasons, so it makes sense to make your child something that comes from one of those lists. Before you do, though, keep in mind a few key points that will help you choose the right one! Pay attention to how the first name sounds along with the middle name. If you have two words that are very different, or very hard to say together, you might want to consider something else. The easier a name trips from the tongue, the more pleasing it will be to your child when they are old enough to have a say in such matters. Then, take into account the way the name sounds with the surname. Does it still flow easily? The first and middle names should compliment the surname. Another point to consider is the way the initials will look. You want to provide your child with initials that will not wind up being ridiculed when they start school! Children tend to make fun of everything at one time or another, so don't make your child an easy target. Write down the initials of your child's name and make certain they don't spell something odd.

Have a good reason for your choice! At some point your daughter will ask you why you chose that particular name for her, and having a good answer will make you both happy. Think long and hard about the meanings of names, and make certain that your choice reflects something about your child or your family that you will cherish forever. A name is something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives! If they have a name with a good story behind it, they will be even happier to tell people what it is and what it means. But your child might not want to constantly explain the pronunciation of her name. So if you are tempted to change the very popular baby girls names to something a little more unique by changing a vowel or switching up consonants, consider that very carefully. Some words look and sound great when they are slightly modified, but others sound very strange. When you change the letters in a name, write them down for other people and ask them to say them out loud to you. If they pronounce the name correctly, you know you're on the right track. The top baby girl names list is filled with ideas for naming your little one. Make sure the name is something that matters to you and sounds great to everyone else. The name you choose for your child will be one of the first decisions you make for their life, so make sure your choice is a good one! By Janet Kimbrell
